The Top 50 Safety Schools
A Safety School is a university or college where the accepted to enrolled difference
(A/E difference) is higher that at other schools. This does NOT mean that a safety school is not a good institution.
We calculated the A/E difference for every school in the nation. We found that schools with a A/E difference above 60% made up about fifty
schools nation wide. These schools have accepted 75% or more of their applicants yet 33% or less of those admitted applicants actually enrolled.
This is how we determined our Safety School listing.
Tuition costs did not play a part in our determination.
So what does this mean?
Let's take a look at New England College
The school had 4,249 applicants for admission in 2017
They accepted 4,207 students
That is a 99% acceptance rate
Of the 4,207 students that were accepted, only 312 enrolled
So the percent admitted, that enrolled, was only 7%
The A/E difference is +92%
